Originally from Finland, Dr. Johan R. Edelheim worked in the hotel industry in Europe and the USA for ten years before taking up a career in education in the late 1990s. He is currently working in a position of director of Norwegian Hotel Management School at University of Stavanger. He has postgraduate qualifications from the fields of business administration, education, philosophy, tourism management and cultural studies and has lectured in VET, Polytechnic and HE institutions in Finland, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Singapore and Australia.
Johan’s research interests are divided between critical investigations of tourism enlightened by cultural studies methodologies on the one hand, and practical hospitality management issues on the other. He has published and presented his work extensively at international conferences, as well as in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and in the popular media. Johan is also a frequently invited speaker at academic and non-academic conferences and seminars on topics related to tourism, hospitality, and education
Johan is an expert member of UNWTO's international board compiling the tourism barometer. He is also on the editorial board of Journal of Vacation Marketing, and is a frequent reviewer for Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Annals of Leisure Research, Scandinavian Journal of Hospitality and Tourism, and the Finnish Journal of Tourism Research, amongst other.
Johan is supervising four PhD candidates on topics ranging from Panem et Circensis - Internet gaming; Cross-border tourism cooperation; Work Integrated Learning (WIL) in Higher Education; and Semiotic analysis of Malaysian Travel magazines.
Damjan Pintar is a graduate in Physical Education from the University of Ljubljana, and has postgraduate degree in sports management (MEMOS) and Master in Sport Organisation Management from University Claude Bernerd Lyon 1. As a Marketing director of the Slovenian Olympic Committee (1998 – 2007), he developed an efficient model of the Olympic related marketing for small countries. 2007 - 2013, he acted as director of tourist program Unitur that owns ski resorts, spas and sport centres in Slovenia, where he developed whole year sports programs, brought and managed international events as world cups ( cross county, snowboarding, IPC alpine skiing), and continental cups ( mountain bike, beach volley, alpine skiing). From 2012 to 2017 he had position as vice president of FIANET, European mountain resorts association.
Currently he act as international consultant at the field of Sports and Tourism, and development business director at private company Dandi d.o.o. where he is building international network of experts Sportour www.sportour.biz . Since 2002 he is IOC - Olympic Solidarity external expert, since 2008 member of assembly Slovenian chamber of mountain resorts ( president 2008 – 2015) and member of assembly of Slovenian chamber of Economy and industry, since 1997 he sustainably rebuild thru his company www.rogla-apartments.si several abandoned houses around Rogla ski resort and now offer more than 20 apartments and 100 beds to active tourists.
As an invited lecturer, he participated in numerous sports marketing seminars and practically developed marketing in several countries around the globe. In Slovenia, he currently works as a part-time lecturer on sports and tourism at the Faculty for business sciences in Celje”. He is author or co author of the books issued in Slovenia and USA.
Dolores Kores – general manager of social enterprise Premiki, which is employing people with disabilities and it operates in the tourism industry, focused on accessible tourism. She is pioneer developer of accessible tourism in Slovenia. She led different national and international projects on accessible tourism from development of educational programs in this field to counseling and business development of accessibility issues for tourism operators. She is involved in ENAT – European Network for Accessible tourism and Premiki are National Contact Point for ENAT. For development of Premiki an organization received UNWTO award Ulysses for NGO sector in 2011. She is also engaged in different social entrepreneurship (SE) organization: coordinator of Centre for SE at University of Ljubljana, president of employment centres at ŠENT- Slovenian Association of Mental Health, ex-president of expert board at Slovenian forum for Social Entrepreneurship, ex-president at Slovenian National Governmental Council for SE, ex-member of GECES group at EU level. Her interest of work is mainly focused on accessible tourism, social economy development and social impact research.
Conference Tourism and Development is organized by three partners, Faculty of Tourism of the University of Maribor, Faculty of Sport and Tourism of the Educons University and Libertas Business School.
